Memory verse:
“And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. 29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.” – Lk. 9:28-29.
Prayer is ordained to change the personality of believers; this change is what will result in the desired change in their situation Gen. 32:24-28,31. Someone has said, ‘until there is a change within there cannot be any change on the outside.’ Scripture also makes it clear that we take care of the inside first to see the reflection outward Mat. 23:26. When we pray therefore, our focus should be the change required in us that will produce the change we desire in our situation. This is the missing link for many believers today, the reason prayer seems not to be as powerful as the Bible depicts.
Scriptural Example of An Individual with Amazing Testimony from a Prayer Life.
Moses was a fugitive handpicked by God to liberate His people from bondage in Egypt and lead them to the Promised Land Exo. 3:7-10. He was to lead stiff-necked people estimated to be over 3 million in number Exo. 32:3. It was a task that could make Moses wear away easily Num. 11:14-15; Exo. 18:17-18. Moses turned to the prayer altar and became a mighty man in prayer who stood with God for 40 days and nights. He was transfigured that at 120 years of age, his natural strength had not dwindled Exo. 34:27-35; Deu. 34:7. This resulted in Moses’ leadership being recorded as unequalled even today in Israel Deu. 34:10; Num. 12:6-8.
