Memory verse:
“Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.”
“And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.”
“But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.”
Mat. 20:20-22.
We understand from scriptures that we serve a covenant-keeping God, not a Father Christmas God Psa. 89:34; Jer. 33:20-21. God has ordained a great life of blessing for His children, but it will happen by embracing necessary demands Deu. 28:1-2. We have established from scriptures that serving God is the vital requirement for access to the blessings of redemption Exo. 23:25-27.
Diverse Kingdom Provisions We Access through Service.
- We Serve to Enjoy Favor.
New birth makes believers a candidate for supernatural favor Psa. 5:12. We do not beg to be favored; we serve our way into favor Psa. 102:13-15; Psa. 35:27.
- We Serve to Enjoy Longevity.
New birth terminates the power of death over believers 1Cor. 15:45. We do not beg for long life in this kingdom, we serve to enjoy long life Exo. 23:25-26; Isa. 65:22.
Therefore, serving God is not being used by God, the church or the pastor. It is the choice that empowers believers to access blessings Mk.10:28-30.
