Memory verse:
“And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.”
“But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.” Mat. 20:20-22.
The memory verse for this week shows us one thing that it is not by begging or appeal that we secure the provisions of God’s kingdom. Rather, it is by accepting the necessary responsibility Mat. 20:20-22. In essence when we meet the demands of the kingdom, we become entitled for the provisions of the kingdom we desire. This is because we belong to the kingdom that operates by covenant Jer. 33:20-21; Deu. 28:1-2.
Some basic covenant approaches to maximize the kingdom life.
- We don’t beg to have children in the kingdom; we serve to be fruitful.
Fruitfulness is guaranteed provision of God for all His children Psa. 127:3; Deu. 7:14. But our access to it is serving God, not begging for it Exo. 23:25-26.
- We don’t cry to be healed; we serve to be entitled to health and vitality.
Every believer is ordained for health, strength and wholeness in life 3Jn. 2. But serving God through reconciling the unsaved to God is the platform that entitles the believer for health and vitality 2Cor. 5:17-20; Pro. 13:17.
- God is not looking for who to humiliate, but who to honor.
Service might make one to appear covered with dirt, because of sweat, dust and insults. All of these make God to pick on the believer to decorate his life Jn. 12:23-25; Pro. 14:28; 1Sam. 2:30.
