Memory verse:
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1Ths. 5:18.
Scripture identifies giving of thanks as the will of God for believers in every situation 1Ths. 5:18. We have said, this would mean that thanksgiving is the right thing to do no matter the situation a believer finds himself. When we do the will of God, we are empowered above the prevailing circumstance, resulting in the turn of the situation to our desired outcome Heb. 10:36. This implies that when thanksgiving becomes the lifestyle of a believer, every contrary situation turns to testimony.
The Power of Thanksgiving in Turning Concerns to Testimonies.
- The Example of the Raising of Lazarus from the Dead.
Lazarus was identified in scripture as a friend of Jesus Christ Jn. 11:1-3. The sisters sent the information of his sickness to Jesus, but by the time Jesus will get there he was dead for 4 days Jn. 6:14,17. This implies Lazarus body was already decomposing and stinking. Nonetheless, Jesus got to the tomb, gave thanks, and Lazarus rose from the dead Jn. 11:39-44.
- Thanksgiving Invokes the Release of Fresh Anointing that Destroys Yokes.
Every time true praise goes forth from a believer, fresh anointing is released on his life and situation Psa. 92:1-2,10. The anointing is the answer to the yokes of the wicked; it destroys yokes to set believers free Isa. 10:27. This means, a believer is not permitted to be under any yoke when he is given to praise.
