Memory verse:
“For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.”
“And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.”
“And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,”
“And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.”
“Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.”
“And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?”
“They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.”
“So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.”
- Mat 20:1-8.
We have said that what a planting season is to the farmer is what a revival is to the believer. In agricultural practice, the planting season determines the harvest season and what the year ahead will look like Eccl. 11:4-6. The planting season is a time of hard work, which will deliver the farmer from emptiness at harvest and hardship in the coming year Psa. 65:9-11. This is the same for a revival season; it is the time of work by engaging in spiritual labor Hag. 2:4-7.
The diverse spiritual labor that the believer is to engage in during a revival show that every believer has a place in a revival Matt. 20:1-8. Every one of us should ensure that we are not onlookers or spectators in this revival season, rather we should make the decision to be fully involved in the labor, so we can be full partakers of the glory it offers Lk. 19:13-19; Pro. 10:5. We have been looking into the various ways of engaging in a revival in our teachings this week. I believe as we take on today’s study, grace shall come afresh on us to maximize the season.
Channels of engaging in a revival.
- A place for compelling people to come to church.
Compelling people to come to the church goes beyond invitation, it involves providing means of transportation for them, getting across to them on service days prior to service time to see to their making it, providing all that will encourage them to be in the service etc. Scriptures make us to understand that everyone involved in such will never be stranded in life Eph. 6:8; Pro. 28:27; Psa. 41:1-3. Any believer that is interested in the advancement of God’s kingdom can do this.
- A place of follow-up of new converts till they are established.
Follow-up is one vital way to ensure that our fruits abide. This involves regularly checking back on our converts to see how they are doing in their walk with God Acts 15:36; making materials available to them that will help build their faith in Christ and establish them in God 1Pet. 2:2; 2Tim. 3:15. From scriptures, we understand that until our fruits abide, our reward is not in view Jn. 15:16. Any believer with a heart for God can do these.
Jesus is Lord!
Prayer.
Father in the name of Jesus, empower me by your Spirit for the labor demand of this revival season Eph. 3:16.
Action.
Go after every of your convert this year, and do everything to have them with you in church from this Sunday, and to see them grow steadily in the faith from now.
Priestly Blessing.
None of your converts this year shall be lost to the world!
Grace for tireless pursuit after God and the advancement of His kingdom is released on your life now!
