The scriptures make us to understand that God ordained the believer for continuous growth in life Pro. 4:18. It is by the spiritual growth of the believer that he becomes qualified for the delivery of his benefits as a kingdom citizen Gal. 4:1-3. The spiritual growth of the believer demands two principal things, they are good spiritual diet and exercise. Just as it is in the natural that no one can exercise for another, every believer is absolutely responsible for his growth.
The Responsibilities for Spiritual Growth.
- Feeding on the word for meat for spiritual growth.
A vital spiritual diet essential for spiritual growth is the meat of God’s word Jn. 4:23-34; Mat. 4:4. This dimension of spiritual diet of God’s word is tat the child of God must graduate into from the milk of the word, in order to grow spiritually into maturity.
- The spiritual exercise of the fear of God.
The fear of God is an essential spiritual exercise that gives the believer access to the value in God’s word Psa. 25:14. It is not enough to feed on God’s word, our access to the nutritional content of the word demands the fear of God at work in the believer 1Ths. 2:10; Eph. 3:1-5.
Feeding on God’s word with the fear of God as foundation gives access to light Jn. 1:1-5,9. Light puts the believer in command against the power of darkness Isa. 60:1-3.
Jesus is Lord!
Prayer.
Father in the name of Jesus, empower me by the Holy Spirit to embrace the responsibilities for my spiritual growth from now Lk. 2:52.
Action.
Make or renew the commitment to daily feeding on God’s word.
Priestly Blessings.
Be empowered by the Holy Spirit to feed daily on God’s word!
Receive a fresh baptism with the fear of the Lord for access to the light in God’s word!
