Memory verse:
“Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.” 14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof. 15 So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.”
– Psa. 102:13-15.
Prayer is a vital requirement to maximize the privileges of new birth and emerge as a light to our world Jer. 33:3; Mat. 5:13-14. From scripture, we understand that there are principally two ways to engage in prayer; one is to request for our needs, and the other is to pray for others outside of ourself. While praying for ourself is scriptural, praying for others is better, it makes prayer to deliver the best Mat. 7:7; Eph. 6:8. Praying for others is sowing spiritual seed that guarantees great rewards Gen. 8:22; Job 42:10.
Understanding the Spiritual Exercise of Praying for Others.
- Praying for Our New Converts.
Jesus’ instruction at His departure from the earth is for believers to make disciples of people Mat. 28:19-20; Mk. 16:15-16. One vital requirement to get this done is praying for our new converts to see them turned into instant disciples of Christ Jn. 1:40-42; 4:29,39.
- What Should We Pray?
For our new converts to be turned into disciples of Christ, we need to understand what to pray for them Rms. 8:26. We are to pray for Christ to be formed in them, making them to be established in the faith Col. 4:12. We also pray for God to shut the door against the manipulation of the devil aimed at drawing them back from the faith Lk. 11:24-26; Jn. 10:28-29.
The good news is that as we pray for our new converts to be established, we secure our place in the kingdom Eph. 6:8.
