Church growth remains God’s will for the church of Christ on the earth Mat. 16:18; Pro. 4:18. The growth of the church will not be automatic, because the gates of hell are ever out against her growth 1Ths. 2:18; 1Cor. 16:9; Mat. 16:18b. if the church will experience the growth ordained for her, there is the responsibility to take care of the gates of hell. Prayer is the principal way to do this; it is why prayer and fasting is the life-wire of every growing church Mat. 17:19-21; Isa. 66:7-8; Ezk. 36:37.
The Power of Prayer in Commanding Church Growth.
- It is the Sharpest Sickle of Harvest in the Kingdom.
Prayer is the sharpest sickle of harvest recognized in scriptures, with the capacity to make the earth bring forth in one day and birth a nation at once Isa. 66:7-8. Elijah birthed a revived nation in one day through prayer as an example 1Kgs. 18:21-39.
- It Makes the Church Unstoppable.
From scriptures and contemporary examples, we understand that whatever cannot stop the church from prayer cannot stop the church from growing Acts 2:46-47; 6:4,7.
- All Oppositions Submits to the Combination of Prayer and Fasting.
Some gates of hell may not clear off without engaging the combine forces of faith, prayer and fasting Mat. 16:18; 17:19-21.
