Memory verse:   

“Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.”

• Ezk. 36:37.

The scriptures clearly show that the church of Christ is ordained for unending and unstoppable growth Pro. 4:18; Mat. 16:18, God has ordained it to be so, but the church (believers as a body and individuals) need to understand their responsibility in order to experience this divine mandate Psa. 82:5-7. The responsibility of the church for supernatural growth is basically praying kingdom advancement prayers Ezk. 36:37. There will be no church growth except God’s people commit to the prayer altar effectively. In essence, every church that desires growth must be a praying church, and the church that will keep praying is guaranteed to keep experiencing growth Isa. 66:7-8.

The power of prayer for church growth.

1. The labor room of prayer is the birthplace of multitudes in the kingdom.

From scriptures, we understand that church growth is by salvation of men and their establishment in the faith and church Acts 2:41,46-47. Salvation of men is akin to natural birth process, which involves a labor process. The prayer altar is the spiritual labor process required to birth converts into God’s kingdom, Isa. 66:7-8.

• God’s word that triggers church growth requires prayer for continuous flow.

God’s word is at the root of all genuine and sustainable supernatural church growth Acts 6:7. Every church that will experience growth must have the free and continuous flow of the word of life Acts 19:18-20; Mat. 24:28. Prayer is a must to invoke the free and continuous flow of God’s word 2Ths. 3:1; Eph. 6:19.

• The multitude drawn into the church can only be retained by the word.

God does not only ask us to get people to be born again and attend church service; but to see that they become established in the faith as they abide in the church Jn. 15:16. It takes the word of God for a convert to be sustained in the faith Jn. 6:66-68. It is by prayer that we trigger the power in the word, which upholds the convert in the faith till maturity Col. 4:12.

Prayer.                                                

Father in the name of Jesus, baptize me afresh with the Spirit of grace and supplication, thereby empower me for tireless kingdom advancement prayer investment Zch. 12:10.

Action.

Engage the altar of prayer for all your converts thus far this year for God’s word to come alive in them, and uphold them to the end.
