Memory verse:
“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” – Heb. 6:12.
Prayer and fasting are vital ways believers labor to advance God’s kingdom Isa. 66:7-8; Psa. 2:8. This is one strong reason prayer and fasting are fundamentally platforms of serving God, and not merely for asking and receiving Lk. 2:37. Scripture makes it clear that every labor in the kingdom guarantees rewards Pro. 14:23. Laboring in prayer and fasting has an added advantage in the delivery of rewards. This is because they are investments made in secret that gives an assurance of open rewards Mat. 6:6,17-18. This means everyone who commits to serving God through prayer an fasting will end up an outstanding person. Everyone in scripture who gave themselves to the lifestyle of prayer and fasting in kingdom service emerged as great individuals.
Scriptural Example of Prayer-Made Giant.
- Paul, the Apostle.
Apostle Paul was an addicted and aggressive intercessor. Before coming into ministry, he was already committed to the life of prayer and fasting Acts 13:1-2. Scripture records have it that prayer and fasting was what he does often 2Cor. 11:27. He engaged the altar of prayer and fasting for and in everything; in simple words his lifestyle was ‘in everything by prayer’ Php. 4:6; 1Ths. 5:17. The effect of this prayer and fasting was that Paul manifested divine life Acts 14:11; 28:6. He demonstrated power over death on severally 1Cor. 15:54-55; 2Cor. 11:25; Php. 1:21-25. Paul came as the last apostle, but emerged the most celebrated after Christ.
