Memory verse:     

“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”             – Heb. 6:12.

Prayer and fasting are vital ways of serving God and the interest of His kingdom Lk. 2:37. Scripture shows us that engaging in these two spiritual exercises result in loosing of bounds, lifting of burdens, destruction of yokes, which makes for transformed lives Isa. 58:6. There is no service as great as this, when lives are positively affected. The assurance of scripture is that no one serves God in vain, particularly service done in the secret, it attracts open rewards 1Cor. 3:8. Prayer and fasting falls in the class of such services; no wonder everyone given to the life of prayer and fasting always emerge as giants in life.

Scriptural Example of Prayer-Made Giant.

1. Jacob.

Scripture presents Jacob as a prayer warrior. He demonstrated this clearly when he took his destiny in his hand to wrestle on the altar of prayer and would not let go Gen. 32:24-26. This exercise took all night engagement, being alone intentionally in the place of prayer Gen. 32:22-24. In my opinion, this is one thing that has made some in the church today not to experience the breakthrough they long for, inability to standing alone on the prayer altar long enough. There is a time for this in our kingdom walk. Jacob returned with a change of name, not just answer to prayer Gen. 32:27-28. This change still makes for the difference in the natural descendants of Jacob till today.

Jesus is Lord!

Prayer.                                                 

Father, baptize me with the Spirit of grace and supplication at a level new thereby making me an effective kingdom steward Zch. 12:10.

Take up any issue of threat to your life on the altar of prayer like Jacob.
