Memory verse:
“Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. 21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.” – Mat. 20:20-22.
If we don’t beg for things in God’s kingdom, how do we then get them? We must understand that God’s love is so deep He takes the time to know His children’s needs in detail, and won’t wait for them to ask before meeting them (Mat. 6:32-33). But we serve a covenant keeping God, not a Father-Christmas God (Psa. 89;34). A demand of God’s covenant for access to all of His provisions is serving Him (Psa. 34:10; Exo. 23:25-26).
Kingdom Provision that Kingdom Service Grants Access.
- Supernatural Favor.
Favor makes the difference between hardship and hard work, sweat and sweet (Exo. 3:21; Psa. 30:5). But we do not beg to be favored in the kingdom; we serve our way into favor (Psa. 102:13-15; 35:27).
- Longevity.
New birth brings believers into dominion over death to enjoy long life (Psa. 91:16). We do not beg for long life in the kingdom; we serve to enjoy a good old age (Exo. 23:25-26; Isa. 65:22).
Scripture states clearly that God is not looking for whom to use, He is looking for whom to bless (Mk. 10:28-30). Our choice to serve with commitment invokes His blessing on our lives.
