Memory verse:
“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.” – Deu. 28:1-2.
Scripture presents the key for a life of total wellbeing as the blessing of God (Pro. 10:22). With it, an individual is supernaturally empowered to prosper in whatever he does, and to overcome sorrow. Furthermore, Scripture identifies obedience as the access to the blessing of God (Jms. 1:22-25; Deu. 28:1-2). Every act of obedience in the pursuit of kingdom advancement is absolutely to believer’s advantage (Jn. 14:27).
Scriptural Helps for Obedience to God’s Word.
- Understand that Obedience Guarantees God’s Response.
God does not answer and respond only to prayer; much more obedience invokes His attention and response (Dan. 5:25-28; 1Sam. 2:3). This means that believer’s obedience secures a better response from God than his prayers do (1Sam. 15:22-23).
- The Example of Israelite.
Israel has just barely left Egypt on their way to the Promised Land, when they were faced with the challenge of the Red Sea (Exo. 14:1-2). God’s instruction was for them to go forward towards the Red Sea; they obeyed and the sea gave way (Exo. 14:14-15; Psa. 114:1-7).
- Obedience Opens Impossible Doors.
Obedience is a personal choice, with the capacity to make doors that wouldn’t normally open on their own accord (Jn. 14:27; 1Cor. 2:9).
Jesus is Lord!
Prayer.
Father, I make the choice for obedience to every instruction of God; empower my choice by your Spirit for life (Deu. 30:19).
Action.
Do a self-appraisal of your walk with God for acts of disobedience, and correct them.
Priestly Blessings.
